Time to make sense Summit '23

Antwerp Zoo

Time to make sense ’23 was the sort of event that we love. Full of inspiration, expertise, art and music. And all of it against the stunning backdrop of the Queen Elisabeth Hall at Antwerp Zoo.

Before we start planning the 2024 edition, let’s have a recap of this years’ event:

Gilles Retsin: AI and creativity
Gilles Retsin jumped right in with a controversial topic: AI and creativity. He got us thinking about what AI teaches us about ourselves, what we will do when all work is automated, and what AI could do for society. Not easy questions, but Gilles believes that AI’s future potential is positive. With his focus on why automation could be helpful for architecture, he explained why AI can create designs that us humans can’t physically recreate.

Anouk Lagae: Grow your business by growing your people
What does managing a company have to do with gardening? Your answer is probably “not much” – unless you’re Anouk Lagae or us after her talk. According to Anouk, gardeners are focused on growing individual plants to ensure the overall growth of their garden, and in the same way CEOs need to grow individual people to ensure the overall growth of their business. Successful CEO gardening comes down to her ABC method: Autonomy, Bonding, Competence.

Pepe Marais: Change and purpose
Can you create fundamental change in just one word? It all comes down to finding your purpose according to Pepe Marais. He encouraged us all to look at our lives, our background, and our ambitions to find the one word that describes our purpose and how we should focus on it to show us the change we need to make to create the future we want.

Music and art
The evening ended with the opportunity to rewind and reflect with laughter-filled interludes and music by Wannes Cappelle and cellist Frans Grapperhaus. Thecla Schaeffers’ expressive art showed strong female figures pursuing freedom. And we can’t forget to mention the knowledgeable Mieke de Ketelaere who effortlessly linked the varied experiences and presentations all evening.

The vibrant evening was full of inspiring voices, thought-provoking artworks, and fantastic company that’ll be talked about until next year’s edition. See you there?
